The Evening will begin with a dessert reception, followed by a screening of the award-winning documentary, The Sentence, culminating with a conversation with film subject Cynthia Shank, Khalil Cumberbatch, and Glenn Ivey, Esq.; moderated by Chris Gordon.

The Sentence (courtesy of HBO Documentary Films) explores the devastating consequences of mass incarceration and mandatory minimum drug sentencing through the story of Cynthia Shank, a mother of three young children who received a 15-year sentence in federal prison for her tangential involvement in a Michigan drug ring years before.
