JCRC/NAACP-MC Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration
This annual event, which brings together hundreds of members of the African-American and Jewish communities of Montgomery County, MD, for education and entertainment, seeks to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and strengthen ties between these communities.
Each year, the King-Heschel Award, named after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, leaders in the Civil Rights Movement, is presented to one or two community leaders in recognition of outstanding community service, civil rights advocacy and community building.
