EMERGENCY GUIDANCE & RESOURCES For Jewish Institutions in the Metro Washington Area* General Awareness Other Local Resources High Holiday Guidance Washington Metro Area Hazards, Risk, Vulnerability First Aid/Medical Websites   Jewish Specific Awareness & Guidance Sources    General Awareness First 24 Hours - useful emergency introduction American RedCross - good basic preparedness info, and suggestions for personal "go kit" Ready.gov - readiness resources provided by FEMA, for organizations and individual Washington Metro Area DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency - sign up for their emergency alerts, which can go to your computer or cell phone Direct link to DC handbook titled "It's a Disaster" - which contains contact info and a wide array of information about threats, hazards and response. [Note that the counties in MD and VA each have their own websited and contact lists.] Washington Council of Governments (COG) - also engaged in local homeland security projects and work with local nonprofits  Other Local Resources Citizens Corp - a national program with a chapter in D.C. and local counties Community Emergency Response Team- another national program with chapters in local counties NOTE: Both programs train citizens to augment local response officials in case of a major crisis/disaster. It would be a good idea to have your members take the free training and be of service to your organization, if need be. A good basic guidance document.
