2019 board application

Do you enjoy advocating with elected officials?  Supporting Israel?  Reaching out to other communities?  Pursuing social justice? Then you might be interested in joining the JCRC’s Board of Directors.

The JCRC of Greater Washington is the public affairs and community relations arm of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and over 100 Jewish institutions throughout the region, including synagogues, schools and human service agencies. The organization is devoted to: strengthening government relations, building ties among interfaith communities, advocating for Israel, and serving as a catalyst for social justice.

Applicants should be comfortable with the JCRC’s mission and understand that serving on the board is a privilege and obligation that involves attending board meetings and other JCRC events; volunteering time, treasure and talent to the organization; and serving on a committee or working on a “portfolio.”

Prospective board members should have held previous positions of Jewish community leadership, must represent the agency in a positive way and accept the agency’s bylaws. According to the bylaws, all Board Members are required to make a financial contribution to both the JCRC and The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington by the end of each calendar year.

Please fill out the application below by Wednesday, April 17, 2019, to be considered for a term beginning July 1, 2019 and concluding June 30, 2021. While not required, it is recommended that applicants be sponsored by a current Board Member.

Feel free to contact Julie Greenwald at jgreenwald@jcouncil.org or at 301-770-0881 if you have any questions.

The Nominating Committee will assume that the applicant has agreed to serve if chosen. Also, please note that the JCRC board nomination process is very competitive and submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance to the board.  Newly appointed board members will be installed at the JCRC Annual Meeting on Monday, May 13, 2019 at The Jewsih Federation of Greater Washington's Abraham S. and Minnie Kay Conference Center in North Bethesda.
